Message dissapointment though. Plus, it takes up to 30,000 miles for a diesel to break in before it can reach peak fuel economy, that doesn't help EPA numbers vs. a gasoline car either. VW was saying mid 50s highway, the EPA number is 41 highway. Then again, the older TDI was rated at 49 highway and real world mileage showed that was the minimum, not an average. City driving was rated so low that I don't know anyone who ever got close to it, so the new TDI is probably underrated as well.
